How To Help

Volunteers
Reliable volunteers are always needed for the SOS Pen Pals program. We have many opportunities some that just take a few hours a week. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  If you can help with any of our volunteer opportunities, please call the office at 804-358-7499.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the following:

Fund Raising and Outreach
Help us raise donations and get the word out about spay/neuter, dog adoption and animal advocacy. Volunteers man our information booths at festivals and local events. You would distribute literature, talk with people about our program and collect monetary donations.

Foster Homes
Volunteers temporarily house the animals until they can be adopted. This is a great way to experience the joy of having a dog without the long term commitment of ownership! It helps the dogs by giving them more individual attention and allows the animal to be socialized in a home environment. 

Wish List

Our program is often in need of the following items:

Gift cards for Petsmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Kroger and Ukrops also help us to purchase needed supplies for our program.

As a non-profit organization, Pen Pals appreciates and welcomes all donations to the program. Your gift of...

$50 will feed 5 homeless animals for one week.
$125 will sterilize, test, and inoculate a dog.
$200 will help pay for specialized medical treatment.
$275 will vaccinate, sterilize, test, feed, and care for an animal until he/she finds a good home.
